What would you rather be doing other than real estate?

So here is the math of the current situation?

Last year?s number of active real estate agents was 1.4 million (plus or minus/give-or-take)?

Drum Roll Please?

This year there are only 1 million agents (blah blah/blah blah)?

Having assumed the mantel of Czar of short sales a few years ago and now in my newfound, yet profound ?calmness?,? I am now the ?president/czar? elect of all real estate professionals. I have shied away from upsells, gimmicks, sales,? and have focused on providing ANYTHING and EVERYTHING I can think of to keep agents excited about the current real estate market, but the hemorrhaging of agents is astonishing!

So REO?s are frozen?

Homeowners hate real estate agents?

Banks are prolific liars?

I still see opportunity!

While most figure out what a life outside of real estate looks like and trust me, the future beyond real estate is grim on a good day. I am still trying to figure out the million or so who keep up the good fight to save the industry. In reality we are ALL in the deep end of the swimming pool when it comes to the banks, media, and anyone else who seems to think they understand the current market conditions. The top agents in every market are people who know JACK-SQUAT about short sales and are just brilliant SEO marketers, at some point this has all got to come to a head?

Further, and even more astounding, is the work output of those who have only a few listings and their reluctance to turn over the mitigation of short sale files to competent short sale negotiation persons.

Being on an anal-retentive-control-trip is just STUPID!

It is all very simple?

if you are working more than 5 hours a day with 5 files or less?

YOU MIGHT HAVE A PROBLEM!

If you are hoping your referrals will keep powering your listings?

YOU MIGHT HAVE A PROBLEM!

If you use the word ?strained? about your relationships at home?

YOU MIGHT HAVE A PROBLEM!

If you have NO relationships?

YOU MIGHT HAVE A PROBLEM!

If you have no direct marketing and no web presence?

YOU MIGHT HAVE A PROBLEM!

If you are relating WAY TOO MUCH to this blog?

YOU HAVE A PROBLEM!

You are debating a life outside of real estate!

I wish this blog was a ?solution? piece about what to do about mindset and motivation?

I know this;? it is about working smarter and not harder?

I know it?s not about mailers, door-knocking, and cold calling?

I know it is about turning over mitigation to a system or negotiator?

AND I know it?s about NOT giving up and it?s definitely NOT about sacrificing your relationships!
