PORTO, Portugal (AP) -Manchester City says its players were allegedly racially abused during its Europa League win over Porto on Thursday and has told UEFA's matchday official it will lodge a complaint.
Striker Mario Balotelli told City he heard abusive chants from the crowd during the 2-1 win, and midfielder Yaya Toure backed him up.
City manager Roberto Mancini said immediately after the match he hadn't heard any racist abuse, and the players hadn't mentioned anything to him.
But Toure told Sky Sports News he "heard something."
He said, "that's why we all like the Premier League, because it never happens there. Maybe in foreign countries they don't expect black players."
