Bad Buys: Components in Real Estate Buying that You Can't Afford ...

When moving to a new city, or even just a new home, you need to know how to assess certain aspects of a property that are less visually evident. Often buyers and renters are persuaded to choose a property based on whether or not it meets their size criteria, whether it is easily accessible to work or school, and if it meets their preferred aesthetics. These aspects are of course important, but they are not the only things to keep in mind.?Long distance moving companies?can coordinate the logistics to get your household belongings to a new location, but you need to worry about the other aspects to ensure that you will be happy in your new home. For example:

  • Who are the neighbors? ? the quality of your neighbors can impact your ability to enjoy your new home, as well as potential resale value (if you are intending to buy). A neighbor that does not take care of the exterior of their property can impact the value of homes in the immediate proximity, according to MSN Real Estate. Additionally, it can be demonstrative of a lack of respect for neighbors, and that could potentially create conflicts with the people you need to interact with in the environment.
  • Structural problems in the home ? structural problems with your home are not just an issue when you are a purchaser. Even when you rent a home, a constant need for major maintenance can disturb your quality of life. Routine maintenance can always be expected with a home of any age. However, having repair people, or even a landlord in your home week after week can feel like an invasion of privacy. When purchasing, always ensure that you get a home inspection so you know exactly what you are dealing with upfront. You can also choose to have someone examine the property even as a prospective renter before you sign a lease.
  • Proximity to local amenities ? renters and buyers often check for access to local schools, and their place of work. But, convenience to other amenities can also have an impact on lifestyle and the overall enjoyment of a property. See how close you are to local parks, fitness centers, and even grocery stores. This is particularly important if certain amenities are relevant to your favorite hobbies, or if you have more limited access to transportation options.

When visiting a new town where you are intending to move, it can be overwhelming if you are trying to evaluate all of the pros and cons. Go with a checklist of things to check for with any property, including the above points. They may not be the most obvious aspects of property hunting, but must factor if you are going to be happy in your new home and city!
